5The word “acolyte” is taken from an ancient Greek word that means companion, attendant, or helper. In some churches, acolytes are called servers.
At Wesleyan Hills, being an acolyte is an important job for our children because their work helps provide a more meaningful worship experience on Sundays. The candles that they light in the church sanctuary remind us of God’s presence in our individual lives, in the church, and in the world as a whole.
