Missions

WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?
Similar to last year, the goal for this summer (2009) is to become more aware of what it means to be in ministry with our prayers, our presence, our gifts, and our service. Throughout the summer, the children of Wesleyan Hills will spend their time making crafts to be sold as part of their fundraising effort to support Jacob’s Ladder.

A THING OR TWO ABOUT JACOB’S LADDER
This wonderful organization revitalizes distressed, inner city neighborhoods. Its vision includes re-imagining broken communities with new housing, new schools, connecting and strengthening existing churches, and building green spaces and parks. This is done as a testimony to the creative and loving power of God.

WHAT HAVE WE DONE SO FAR?

Our Summer of Service has hit a wonderful stride!

So far the children have done a painting project with Ms. Luanne, followed by two different projects with our first guest artist, Margaret Jambard (and her crafty hubby, Danial). The first project that Margaret and Danial lead were “stained-glass” pictures…pictures that Luanne would challenge any adult to figure out how they were made! Margaret then shared her love of and talent in photography with the children. The result was “Kid Pics: From a Child’s Eye”. Prepare yourself to be amazed by the images they captured!

Throughout the summer, the children will welcome other guest artists to help them make a variety of crafts – which will then be auctioned to the highest bidders to raise money to support Jacob’s Ladder.
