Pastor's Message

Wesleyan Hills United Methodist Church is situated in east Memphis between Walnut Grove and Poplar Avenue on Yates. The church is not the biggest or the one with the most programming, but it is a place where people can experience God’s love in a special way. Wesleyan Hills UMC welcomes people of all races, ages, and stations in life.

I’ve recently been appointed to Wesleyan Hills as pastor. My first love is to preach and help people learn more about the grace of God so they can share the grace with others. With my background as a teacher, I work at making the message thought provoking, challenging, and theologically sound.

Christianity is not about saying we believe in Jesus Christ, but following Jesus Christ. I believe that there is a lack of enthusiasm for many about being in church because we have somehow lost the desire to follow Jesus. Many times other things are taking away our ‘first love’ or our love of giving ourselves to something that really matters.

I hope you will come to Wesleyan Hills UMC, experience our fellowship, and choose to be a part of our community of faith. Don’t just come one time, but come several times. Hear the singing, experience the fellowship, and follow the One who leads us to make a difference in the world. There is no decision you will make that has more consequences for your life and mine as the place you worship.

When you get up on Sunday and think…where can I experience the grace of God and find my way…Come to Wesleyan Hills UMC! This community of faith may make all the difference in your life. Will you come and give it a try?

A pilgrim on the journey with you,
Susan Sharpe, Pastor
